Directions to Kouka

FROM NICOSIA (LEFKOSIA) Scenic Route (recommended) 1 hr 15 mins

From the Kykko traffic lights on the inner ring road (Leoforos Griva Digeni), take the road to Troodos (Archangelou). The first part of this road is now a motorway. Stay on this road until you turn LEFT for Troodos at the traffic lights at Astromeritis. Watch the speed limit on this road. It is used by a lot of farmers and the police keep a close watch on speeding – there is nearly always a patrol car and radar!

Keep on the Troodos road past Kakopetria. As you climb up towards Troodos you pass a number of restaurants, Army camps and a trout farm. At the crest of the hill you come to a major crossroads with a tree in the middle. The main road swings hard right and goes on to Troodos, the road to the left goes to Kyperounda and Agros, and the road going straight on (downhill) goes to Limassol.

Take the Limassol road, which goes through Kato Amiandos and on to Saittas where there is a T junction with the main Platres/Limassol road. Turn LEFT for Limassol (Lemesos) and then immediately RIGHT for Pera Pedi. The road climbs upwards through a number of bends until you approach Pera Pedi.

Look out for a LEFT turn signposted to Kouka and take this minor road. As you enter Kouka you will see the Timios Stavros church on your right.

FROM NICOSIA VIA LIMASSOL (Lemesos) 1 hr 25 mins:

Take the main highway to Limassol (Lemesos). Continue on the Limassol (Lemesos) by-pass which is now all motorway.

The sequence is an overpass, an underpass, a second overpass, a third overpass and then you exit the bypass BEFORE the final overpass. This is Junction 28, but there are no junction numbers on the road signs. The exit is signed for Troodos and the Port and comes after the Tsirion football stadium on your left. Exit the motorway and from the Polemidia roundabout take the 4th exit signed for Troodos on the B8 road.

**** Pass the small Polemedia water dam on your left. Pass the large Alassa water dam on your left, and the new Alassa village. Pass the new road signposted to Lofou village on your left.

The road then has a series of bends as it continues up towards Troodos As the road straightens out you will see the valley opening out to your left and the first signs of villages and villas. Watch for the sign for Monagri, Ayios Georgios and Silikou, which you will see on the main road where someone has cleared the land on the right to park some cars for sale.

Turn LEFT and head down into the valley. Follow the road down to the valley bottom, cross the Kouris river, go uphill and bear RIGHT at the turning for Ayios Georgios village, continue through Sylikou village and on up towards Troodos until you come into Kouka.

Go slowly though Kouka village until you see the turning on your LEFT just before the Timios Stavros church. Kouka is 30 km from the Polemidia roundabout.
